I have always had a hard time telling the look-alike and sound-alike
Osmond brothers apart, but I gather Wayne was not one of the eldest*
brothers, but also not one of the lead singers [that would be Donny and
little Jimmy, I believe] of chart-topping vocal group The Osmonds.

In any case, Wayne died on New Year's Day, and too young at 73.

* If I've got it correctly, the eldest two (and surviving) brothers are
deaf and thus have never been part of the performing Osmonds clan.

Depends, Mongo, on whether you include occasional lead singer Jimmy; the
two eldest, non-performing brothers (each quite sadly deaf); and even
sister Marie.

But of the five (?) member original group The Osmonds of "One Bad
Apple", et al. hit-parade penetration, I believe the correct answer is
four of the five now survive.

(Well, at least father Osmond didn't follow the
fading-but-still-lingering LDS sister-wives practice...else this
calculus would be considerably more complex, doncha think?)

The two eldest were born with a condition that left them deaf;
just-deceased Wayne became largely deaf as a side effect of cancer
treatment in recent years.

The eldest brother has a son who was in the Utah State Senate for
a couple of terms.

According to the Wikipedes, the original singing group was a
"barbershop quartet" of Alan,Wayne,Merrill, and Jay (each being
known by one forename but given two)...Donny joined for the prime
"Osmond Brothers" days and Jimmy eventually as part of "the Osmonds".

The LDS Church proper had gotten out of polygamy by the
time the father was born, though splinter groups may keep
at it the Osmonds were part of the mainline church.

All the rest.

He was the fourth son and had four younger brothers...the other
7 are all still ticking,as is their sister.
