I saw it on TV today. Apparently the authorities are all but certain
that he did it.

TV Star Mystery

The Los Angeles coroner's office has revised a report on the death of
the girlfriend of the late Murphy Brown star Robert Pastorelli. The
cause of death was originally labeled undetermined. Now, as Inside
Edition reports, her death has been reclassified as a homicide and
questions have been raised about Pastorelli's role.

I saw this too. I am amazed authorities managed to keep their
suspicions under wraps for that long. I wish they'd done that with
Blake or Simpson. Their cases would've been even more solid if it
wasn't tried in the media first.

"Inside Edition" is a bit behind the times. The girlfriend died in
1999, Pastorelli died in March 2004, and in April 2004 the National
Enquirer reported that the police were planning to arrest him for the
murder of his girlfriend when "Eldin" saved them the trouble by offing
himself.

Wonder why IE is just now digging up this old story? Slow gossip week?

Because her cause of death has now officially been changed from suicide
to homicide.

Nope, LAPD officially changed the cause of death from "undetermined" to
"homicide" way back in '99.

They were closing in on Pastorelli back in '04, when Pastorelli died of
a drug overdose.

I know his being a suspect is old news for the alt.gossip.celebrities
crowd, but apparently this is the first official confirmation from the
police.

PEOPLE has now reported on it as well:

TV Star Robert Pastorelli Was Suspect in Girlfriend's Death

Actor Robert Pastorelli, best known for his character Eldin on the hit
TV series Murphy Brown, was a suspect in his girlfriend's death when he
died last year.

Police have confirmed that Pastorelli knew he was being investigated in
the death of Charemon Jonovich, 25, who was found shot in the head in
Pastorelli's home in the Hollywood Hills in 1999.

Jonovich's death was initially ruled either an accident or suicide, but
several months after her death the coroner indicated she had died as a
result of " homicide." Police were investigating the matter last year
when Pastorelli, then 49, died of a drug overdose in March. The couple
had a young daughter together.

Pastorelli's other TV credits included Miami Vice and Hill Street Blues.
He also had a role in the upcoming John Travolta-Uma Thurman movie, Be Cool.

That may be 100% accurate, but it's also convenient for the cops
because they can now quickly close the case since Pastorelli is dead
and not able to defend himself.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. I'd like to see what the actual case is
against Pastorelli.
