The Lady Elizabeth Ann Bathurst, who died 9 October, 2004, aged 96, was
a sister of the 6th and 7th Earls Temple of Stowe.
She was born Elizabeth Ann Temple-Gore-Langton, 3 April, 1908, the only
daughter of Capt. the Hon. Chandos Graham Temple-Gore-Langton, of the
1st Dragoon Guards (1873-1921), by his wife Frances Ethel Gore.
In February, 1940, her eldest brother, Chandos (1909-66), succeeded his
uncle as 6th Earl Temple of Stowe, and on his death, without issue in
1966, the peerages devolved upon her next brother, Stephen (1910-88),
who was unmarried.
She was, in 1941, granted the rank and precedence of the daughter of an
earl.
Lady Elizabeth married in 1927, Group Capt. Peter Bathurst, RAF
(1903-70), scion of the Earls Bathurst, by whom she had two sons:-
(i) Admiral Sir (David) Benjamin Bathurst, GCB, b. 1936
(ii) Timothy Seymour Bathurst, b. 1939
