Alfred Bourgeois was the Louisiana trucker who had abused his daughter,
2, in 2002. He killed her by slamming her head against the truck's
windows and dashboard.

I recall nothing about this case. Does anyone know why it was prosecuted
federally?

Ok. The battery that led to death took place at Corpus Christi Naval Air
Station. That's why it's federal and not state.
