The Telegraph (UK) has an obit for Sir Conrad Swan, the Queen's Garter
Principal King of Arms for Englishmen (head of the College of Arms
which regulates heraldry) from 1992 to 1995...he was born May 13th 1924.

His term as Garter King of Arms was cut short when it was revealed he
had faked a document for a son-in-law who wanted a degree in the Order
of Saint John of Jerusalem then only available to those whose families
had had coats of arms for over a hundred years;the same year, his wife
Lady Hilda (daughter of an Earl of Iddesleigh) was killed by a hit-and-
run driver as she checked her mail.

The World Trade Center towers MUST rise again,
at least as tall as before...or terror has triumphed.

Sir Conrad was most helpful a couple of years ago while I was researching
some historic colour film taken in India in 1947. I remember he avidly
maintained an arboretum in memory of his wife.
