'Madtv's' Lauren Dombrowski dies

Producer began her career as stand-up comic

By VARIETY STAFF

Lauren Dombrowski, co-executive producer and writer for "Madtv," died
from cancer Oct. 8 in Los Angeles. She was 51.

She began her career as a stand-up comic and sketch comedian and was
one of the few women who performed regularly in Boston's comedy scene
alongside friends Steven Wright, David Cross and Denis Leary.

"Lauren was one of the funniest people ever to grace this earth," said
Leary. "She made me laugh out loud every single time we saw each
other."

After leaving Boston, Dombrowski moved to Los Angeles and joined the
staff of "Madtv" where she served as writer and co- exec producer for
11 years.

She is survived by her husband, Marko Babineau, three sisters and her
parents.

Donations may be made to The City Of Hope, 1500 East Duarte Rd.,
Duarte, California 91010.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the
Self Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine, 17190 Sunset Blvd., Pacific
Palisades.

Lauren Dombrowski

DOMBROWSKI, Lauren (51), co-executive producer and writer for Madtv

Ms. Dombrowski, began her career as a stand-up comic and sketch
comedian and was one of the few women who performed regularly in
Boston's comedy scene alongside friends Steven Wright, David Cross and
Denis Leary.

"Lauren was one of the funniest people ever to grace this earth,"
remarked Mr. Leary. "She made me laugh out loud every single time we
saw each other. That's the true measure of a talented lady who in
sickness and in health made the world a brighter place to be. Everyone
who was blessed to know her as a friend, will never forget her."

After leaving Boston, Ms. Dombrowski moved to Los Angeles and joined
the staff of Madtv where she served as writer and co-executive
producer for over eleven years.

"Along with being an incisive producer for the show and a gifted
mimic" said Michael Hitchcock, a fellow writer and producer at Madtv,
"Lauren was very supportive of other women in the entertainment
business. She went out of her way to hire female writers on Madtv and
support them."

Lauren's husband, Marko Babineau said, "Lauren raised thousands of
dollars for City Of Hope, through her many Walks for Hope and her
comedy fundraiser last year The Best Medicine. I will forever miss her
infectious smile and the endless laughter she brought to everyone she
touched."

Ms. Dombrowski is survived by her husband, Marko Babineau, sisters
Lynne, Jean and Judy and parents Joe and Fran Dombrowski.

The family has requested donations be made to The City Of Hope, 1500
East Duarte Road, Duarte, California 91010.

There will be a memorial service to honor Lauren on Saturday, November
15, 2008 at the Self Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine, 17190 Sunset
Boulevard, Pacific Palisades at 1 p.m.
