As several have pointed out, assuming the second girl in the fracas DIDN'T have a knife, you shouldn't call it a "fight" - it's attempted murder. (And even if both girls had had knives, it IS the duty of police to stop deadly fights, not just let them kill each other, even if at least one person gets killed.)
