Richard G. Stilwell Jr., a retired Army lieutenant
colonel ...
General "Vinegar" Joe Stillwell was Richard's grandfather.
<snipped>
Was he any relation to Gen. Joseph W. "Vinegar
Joe" Stilwell, of WWII fame?
Richard Stilwell was not part of General Joseph Stilwell's
immediate family. Joe Stilwell had three daughters and two
sons (Benjamin and Joseph Jr., who was an Army Colonel).
General Stilwell's only brother was named John.

of defense who was commander of U.N. forces in Korea during the war
there. Col. Stilwell was born in Buffalo. He was a graduate of the
Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and received a master's
degree in public administration from George Washington University.

He was his grandson and son of Gen. Richard Stilwell. Col. Stilwell was CO of Company "C," 1st Battalion, 7th Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, during 1969, in Vietnam. At that time, his rank was Captain.
