Well you are correct because the title applied to this thread apparently by an adbot is "Famous Deaths", not "Famous People Who Died". The incredibly brave souls you refer to certainly died famous death due to the importance and magnitude of Operation Overlord.

There were also less famous military deaths in southern Europe, and the Eastern Front and the Pacific (the Allied invasion force headed for Saipan had actually left Pearl Harbor the day before D-Day and they were still en route on the 6th)
