Update - fatal collision - Maple Ridge Road

(Municipality of Huron Shores, Ont.) - East Algoma OPP have identified
the victim in the fatal collision on Maple Ridge Road as 16-year-old
Ricki-Lee Watkins of Goulais Avenue in Sault Ste. Marie.

The investigation has revealed that a vehicle driven by an 18-year-old
was eastbound on Maple Ridge Road.

Watkins was a passenger in the front and while unbuckled from her
seatbelt leaned out the window of the car.

The occupant struck a road sign and suffered fatal head injuries in
the collision.

Two other persons were in the vehicle (16 and 17 years old).

No other persons suffered physical injuries.

The investigation is in the final stages and no charges are
anticipated.

Tragically as a result of an accident on Thursday, June 9, 2005.
Ricki-Lee Watkins in her 17th year. Cherished daughter of Janice
Watkins and the late Richard. Loving sister of Wayne and Tyler
Watkins. Adored granddaughter of Doris and Wayne Quinton of Sault Ste.
Marie and Mary Bonner and the late Albert Watkins of Glace Bay, Nova
Scotia. Special friend of Kevin Blake of CFB Dut-Dundurn,
Saskatchewan. Special niece of John Quinton (Kim), Jake Quinton
(Janice White), Jennifer Finn, Carol Ann Watkins (late Butch), Paul
Watkins, Lynn Dearing (David), Brenda McDonald (Kevin), Harold Watkins
(Evelyn Powley), Mick (Janice), Dwayne Roddy and Francis Watkins.
Ricki will be sadly missed by great aunts and uncles, cousins and her
many friends. "Safe in the arms of the angels." The family at this
time would like to thank the Thessalon OPP, Thessalon Hospital,
special thanks to Rhonda Greer, Robin Ann Quinton and the Sault Area
Hospital, General Site. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home &
Cremation Centre on Monday June 13, 2005 from 2-4 and 6-9 pm. Funeral
service will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at Central United
Church at 11 am. Rev. Don McKay officiating. Interment Greenwood
Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Bandettes Drum Corp. would be
appreciated by the family.
